I am very proud to announce that Jersey Boys is officially ‘The Celebrity Radio Best West End Musical 2012‘.
I have spent the last 15 years reviewing theatre around the world and this is not just a feel good show, it’s feel fabulous show!
Do not think that Jersey Boys is just another ‘songbook’ cheesy money making production…..you couldn’t be more wrong.
This show has great emotion and a fascinating (well written) storyline with true grit & edge telling the story of the creation of ‘The Four Seasons’. Jersey Boys has an incredible soundtrack featuring 25 of the greatest songs from the soundtrack of our lives.
You’ll love every second of ‘Sherry’. ‘Walk like a man’, ‘Can’t take my eyes off you’ and ‘December ’63 Oh What a Night’! The band are phenomenal and appear throughout the production on stage. The sound guys take this production from fantastic to breathtaking at times.
This show attracts some of the worlds best musical theatre talent. On Broadway there is Jarrod Spector, in Vegas there’s Rick Faugno and in London they have Ryan Malloy, Jon Lee & Matthew Wycliffe who all stand out as exceptional performers in the show.
It has to be said that Ryan Malloy is a world class performer. He’s regarded by Frankie V himself as “probably the best actor in the role”, I have to agree. A unique talent who was born to play the part of Valli. He never fails to deliver anything less than 100% 6 times a week. Pure talent and enthusiasm.
This afternoon I had the pleasure of seeing Jon Lee for the first time in the title role. I was incredibly impressed by his authentic performance and powerful vocals. Jon’s acting and delivery was also exceptional.
This show repays every penny in visuals, vocals and the feel good factor. It’s no wonder this sell out show is celebrating 4 years in the West End. May it run for many more years to come!
